Graceful and elegant, the Linon Hunter Short Back Storage Bench has incredible versatility and character, allowing you to place this bench anywhere in your home. A convenient split seat allows you to access the inside storage compartment, even if someone is sitting on the other side. This inside compartment is one single open storage space so you can even store bulky items like blankets or snow gear. Spring hinges keep the seats in the upright position giving you easier access to what's inside. Choose from several finishes like Oak for a traditional, timeless look. Or go darker with Walnut to create a warm, handsome setting. Finally, the Merlot with a dark brown base and reddish undertones enriches any room. This bench has a 200-pound weight capacity, but it's not recommended to keep it at capacity for extended periods of time.

This storage bench is made of Rubberwood, a tropical hardwood descending from the Maple family, and native to Thailand. It is a dense grain wood that is commonly used in furniture manufacturing due to its versatility and durability. Eco-friendly, its wood is only used after the tree has stopped its latex-producing cycle and the tree has died, thus there is no need to harvest live trees.

One tip on assembly, especially if you are putting it together by yourself. When it comes time to add the second end piece to the frame you've already built, it's much easier to guide the wooden dowel pegs into their holes if you put the screws in place first.

I found that getting one step ahead of the directions made the assembly much easier at that point. The directions say to put the wooden pegs in place, then the screws. A much better way is to gently start all of the metal screws first. That guides all of the wooden pegs right into place and into their respective holes at the same time.

If you try to knock the short wooden pegs into their holes without the longer, more secure screws already started, the end piece and it's wooden pegs jump out of the holes where you're not applying pressure. Knock one in, another pops out.

This will make a lot of sense if you try this, as the unit is not sturdy until you reach this point and add the 2nd end piece. The other parts are still wiggling around without anything to steady them. The metal screws keep things oriented as you slowly tighten the screws, moving the 2nd end piece, and all of the wooden pegs, into place.

This bench looks good once assembled, however it arrived at our home minus many drill holes for assembly. Luckily we had a builder doing some work who let us borrow his tools so we were able to finish drilling the holes needed for completing the assembly, otherwise we would have had to send it back. Also, some of the assembly pegs were bent, making it difficult to get a flush line. All in all the bench is attractive if made poorly and without any detail to assembly.

I wanted a storage type seating piece for my foyer to keep dog leashes and other pet items in, and out of sight. This is perfect!! It looks beautiful and has more than enough room for my purpose. I bought the Merlot finish and it looks great under the large mirror I have in that area. Although the bottom is not "real wood", it is quite sturdy and good enough for normal items you would store in it. Being a cost conscious shopper, I researched many pieces with similar traits and this is by far the best quality, design and functional for the price. It was delivered within a week, undamaged and easy assemble (I am 55, female). I started assembly on my own, then my daughter came and we had it all together and in place in about 1-1/2 hrs.

We put this bench in a bay window, nice height for the window area. So easy to assemble, I always dread assembling it myself, but this was easy and quick. It looks like a high-end piece of furniture. For the price, I was hoping it was decent and not particle board, it really exceeded my expectations. Just can't think of anything that isn't so great about it. It probably won't be real comfortable to sit on, but very decorative and would be fine with cushions or pillows. Great storage, so that's wonderful!

We never ordered furniture from a catalog before..but the bench came in three days.. earlier than promised..was just perfect and so easy to assemble... they even had each piece numbered ... made it foolproof!... thank you Hayneedle for your prompt and speedy delivery of a nice sturdy bench to hide our shoes...

I wanted this bench for an area that was too small for a love seat in my living room, and it fits great. You can definitely tell it isn't a high-end piece of furniture, but it's worth the price I paid. It'll be nice for storing blankets and pillows, and extra sitting room for guests. I would recommend purchasing the cushion with it (or any cushion that fits), because it would be much more comfortable. Also, we have oak and chestnut in our living room, and the color of this bench looks pretty close to the other wood. (I ordered the oak finish.)

Perfect place to store small items like shoes, gloves, hats and scarves, diaper bag and small toys. Love that it gives me storage and seating in an attractive, affordable design. My only complaint would be that the inside bottom panel isn't hardwood like the rest; it doesn't look sturdy. But, as long as you don't put heavy things in I'm guessing it's good enough.
